Tamzara Armenian Folk Dance Group
Our Mission
Tamzara was formed with the intention of disseminating traditional folk dance to the Armenian diaspora and the wider Australian community. The group intends to deepen the knowledge and passion for Armenian culture among its members and its audience.
The aim of this newly formed dance group is to maintain the rich texture of Armenian cultural heritage and to ensure that it remains as a shining example for future generations.
We also welcome a wide range of participation in the group, ranging from creative and artistic collaborations, as well as organisation for events and volunteering for furnishing.
Nazarena Anush Arabean
Artistic Director and Choreographer
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she is a professional dancer. Studied in the National Dance School and selected by the Contemporary Dance of San Martin Theatre. At the same time, she has a degree in Political Science studied at the University of Buenos Aires.
For 17 years danced in the Armenian Folk Dance Company Kaiane, she was main soloist of Aram Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance. In 2000 she went to an artistic tour to Armenia dancing in the Opera Theatre of Yerevan, Dilidjan, Kharapagh and Gyumri. In 2007 she founded Health Studio, which merged Pilates with Dance. She is also an Ashtanga Yoga Instructor. In 2010 she did volunteer job in the Museum of Modern Arts in Gyumri with Birthright Armenia sponsorship. After that experience a six month journey begins through Asia, Middle East and Europe, taking courses of Dances, Pilates and other body technics. Since 2014 she lives in Sydney, Australia.
